The objective of the project is to support the nine riparian countries of the Niger River Basin in their efforts to work together to assure the sustainable development and management of the basinís land and water resources, including protection of its unique dry lands environment and associated biodiversity. The nine countries that share the basin (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote díIvoire, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Nigeria and Chad) are all signatories to the Convention that led to the creation of the Niger Basin Authority.
