  • Executing agency: UN/DESA Division for Sustainable Development
  • Start date: 1 September 2000
  • End date: 1 March 2001
  • Partners: UNDP, World Bank
  • Total budget: USD 138,889

The objective of the project is to support the five riparian countries of the Lake Chad River Basin (LCB) in their efforts to work together to assure the sustainable development and management of the basinís land and water resources, including protection of its unique dry lands environment and associated biodiversity. The five countries that share the basin (Cameroon, Central African Republic, Guinea, Mali, Chad, Niger and Nigeria) are all signatories to the Convention that led to the creation of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC). The proposed project will allow UNDP to develop a project document in collaboration with the World Bank.
