The experience gained through the implementation of this project will be disseminated to all other cites in China facing pollution problems similar to those of Benxi. The project will be undertaken within the framework of a broad national air pollution control programme which includes three other cites: Guiyang, Xi’an and Guangzhou. As a part of the national air pollution control programme, Benxi will benefit from capacity development initiatives to be undertaken at the national level. The objectives of the national programme are described in Project CPR/96/308: Programme Support Project for Air Pollution Control in China.
