The Statistics Division, at the request of Governments, ensures the provision of expert assistance in statistics and statistical data processing to assist in the enhancement of capabilities related to decennial censuses and the System of National Accounts. More specifically, the Division offers technical advisory services on: demographic, social, industrial, energy, environmental, national accounts and trade statistics. It also provides technical cooperation services on national accounts and on computers and informatics. It advices to the African, Caribbean and Pacific group of States, OAU and the World Tourism Organization, on scale-of-assessment methodology.
The Division provides group training and technical services to Member States and regional and interregional projects and training to assist developing countries and countries with economies in transition to strengthen national capabilities in the collection, processing and dissemination of statistics.
