The Statistics Division is committed to the advancement of the global statistical system. We compile and disseminate global statistical information, develop standards and norms for statistical activities, and support countries’ efforts to strengthen their national statistical systems. We facilitate the coordination of international statistical activities and support the functioning of the UN Statistical Commission as the apex entity of the global statistical system. In recognition of Professor Paul Cheung’s work in advancing the global statistical system and facilitating the development of national statistical systems in the developing countries, the National University of Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar conferred on him an honorary doctorate degree on 30 June 2008.

The National University of Mongolia is the country's oldest and only comprehensive university and a leading centre of sciences, education and culture. more..
