based on the World Population Prospects:
The 2012 Revision
contains the third revision of Probabilistic Population
Projections prepared by the Population Division of the
United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs
These probabilistic projections are
based on the historical estimates of population by age and

2012 Revision of the World Population Prospects,
and probabilistic projections of total fertility, and
life expectancy at birth for all countries and areas.
Probabilistic Population Projections provided in this

research - carried out by the Population Division in
cooperation with researchers from the University of Washington and the National University of Singapore.
are complementary to the official 2012 Revision of the
World Population Prospects.
