The 15th Biennial Meeting of the Senior Fellowship Officers of the United Nations System coordinated and organized by the United Nations Department of Economics and Social Affairs (UN/DESA), was held at the Headquarters of the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, from 13 to 15 October 2004. This Convocation marked the 30th Anniversary of the Meeting of the Senior Fellowships Officers of the United Nations System. Coincidentally, it was also the World Health Organization which hosted the First Meeting back in 1974.

The main item on the Agenda was the Quality of Fellowships Programmes which was prepared by the Peer Review Group headed by WHO/EURO. Participants made a series of recommendations which can be seen in the Meeting’s Report. Most importantly, the Meeting agreed on the common definitions of a Study Tour and a Group Training as well as on the harmonization of all the policies and procedures governing the administration of Study Tours and Group Training in the United Nations system.
