Population

The Population Division, at the request of Governments, provides assistance to improve institutional capabilities for the compilation and analysis of national population data and the formulation of national policies and programmes to improve national capacity to develop policies for the effective implementation of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (1994). The main focus of the Division is providing follow-up to the International Conference, including the strengthening and expansion of electronic population information to respond effectively to requests for information and supporting coordination among the United Nations entities in the field of population.
